I know. You'd think it was sleep, or that my heart grew 2 sizes, or an explosion of the number of things I am capable of worrying about. Those things changed, too. But those were easier transitions. Shopping is pretty much the only thing I actually miss about our pre-baby life.
I could thrift for hours on a Saturday morning. I could go to Home Depot five times in search of Just The Right paint color. Even if I bought nothing, I relished the hunt. Since Katherine's arrival, I've had to become ruthlessly efficient at the planning and execution of any shopping adventures we tackle together. It's gotten easier since she turned One, but attempting multiple trips to Home Depot for paint samples is still just not going to happen.
I could, of course, give her away for a few hours to wander the stores, but she's so delicious and my time with her is limited to nights & weekends. Lazy shopping can wait... till she's 12 and doesn't want to hang out anymore. ;)
So I wanted to repaint the living room. The green was feeling too dark. Also, I'd painted it 5 WHOLE YEARS AGO, and in our house, that's an eternity.
Crossing my fingers, I bought two gallons of what I thought would be a beautiful pale grayish white. And it turned out to be a pale "Swine Beige". Blast!! Sneaky pink undertones. They get me every time.
Not one to waste paint... I dug out a 5 gallon bucket, consulted the color wheel and my enormous stash of left over paints, primers, and samples... and I now have 5 gallons of something very close to "Night Frost" by Olympic.
Though, clearly my paint chip matching skills are questionable. Buy a sample first. ;)
Anyways, it's lovely. Rob called it "Cheerful". I think that's a win. And I have enough to paint half the house. I plan on tweaking the hue slightly each time I tackle a new room, so each color will be in the same family, but it won't be boring. I'm currently working on a slightly darker, brown-er version in the guest room. I'll be busy for a while. ;)
(And I'm off... someone is protesting the lack of attention.) ;)
